Hello; my name is Lisa Maurer; I am a blind computer user. I learned my computer skills at the STAR Center, across the breeze way from my apartment complex. With the help of a software screen reader called 'Jaws,' I hear what is displayed on the screen as the computer speaks it. In the few years I've taken classes at the STAR Center, I've learned many usefull things,including listening to internet radio, writing documents in Microsoft Word, and building and maintaining web sites to display my crafts and to post my writings. I hope to share the wonderful things I've learned on the computer, and to encourage others.

My name is Lisa Maurer. Though I have been blind all my life, I go to many places, and I do many things. I chose to build Lisa?s Blind Crafts, (http://lisasblindcrafts.friendpages.com,) Lisa?s Site Builder, (http://lisassitebuilder.friendpages.com,) and lisacarmella.gather.com to share my love of the arts with the people, and to promote accessibility.

Among the things I will include on my web site is a short biography of myself, my hobbies, short stories, poems, and recipes I've discovered. There are
photos of things I enjoy and places I've been. Many of the poems and stories I've written, including the "Site Builder" series, have been inspired by such
things as songs I hear on internet radio and my own cds and tapes. Places I've visited is a great motivation. Also my beliefs and experiences that I've
had and/or that close friends and family have had is a great inspiration to me. There will also be short stories about my little poodle, Adam. It will include links
to some of my favorite web sites. The learning process of building websites opened up a whole new world to the visually impaired, the sighted, the disabled, and the able bodied, alike. I hope
